LANDSCAPE PLANNER I

The City of Newport News (Virginia) is recruiting for a part time Landscape Planner to be responsible for managing outside landscape maintenance and installation contracts and writing technical contract specifications; works closely with other departments and contractors for enforcement of landscape requirements and procurement of landscape materials and services.

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Urban Design or a closely related field and considerable, increasingly responsible experience. Strong landscape design, ground’s maintenance experience and plant/turf knowledge, specializing in the Southeastern Coastal Region preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred and CAD/GIS skills are beneficial. Requires a valid driver’s license and acceptable background check. Job Description- Virginia Green Horticulturist

Virginia Green Lawn Care provides award winning Tree and Shrub Protection Plans to our customers throughout Central and Eastern Virginia. We utilize an IPM approach utilizing the tree and shrubs biological systems as well as preventative treatments to handle a variety of problems associated with our customer’s properties. Our goal is to assist our customers with all aspects of plant care and maintenance.

We currently have a full time position available for a Horticulturist. Virginia Green horticulturists are responsible for:

Selling and estimating Shrub and Tree Services
            Working with account managers to identify sales prospects
            Partnering with management team to increase sales and marketing
            Scheduling route and producing work
            Follow up with customers- resolving issues as needed
           Training of account managers in tree and shrub aspects
