Through our support of research and education, we strive to improve the numbers, quality and types of trees available to the fresh market. A $750 educational scholarship will be awarded annually to a student (junior, senior or graduate student) majoring in forestry or horticulture at an accredited college or university. Northern Virginia Nursery & Landscape Association
The NVNLA gives an annual scholarship of $2,500 to a VA Tech Horticulture undergrad. student from this part of the state Northern Virginia NOVA). We also give an annual $500 scholarship to a student enrolled in any college program of study related to the Green Industry who is employed by one of our member companies. Central Virginia Nursery & Landscape Association
CVNLA "Harry Johnson Memorial" Scholarship Fund (formerly named The Albert J. "Bert' Shoosmith Scholarship)
- The CVNLA consists of members who are committed to improving and expanding the field of horticulture. To promote this commitment, the CVNLA has established a scholarship which encourages students to pursue a career in horticulture. Students must reside in Central Virginia and be pursuing a degree in Landscape Design or Horticulture. Preference is given to those individuals planning to work or have had prior work experience with a firm who is a member of the CVNLA.
Horticulture students enrolled at J. Sergeant Community College may seek an application from Dr. Len Morrow, Professor of Horticulture, or Ms. Rose Liggan, Scholarship coordinator for JSRCC. Applications must be received by January 30 of each year.
The $500.00 scholarship will be awarded in May of each year for the following semester.

Students who are enrolled in landscape/horticulture programs at two-year and four-year colleges and universities across the nation are eligible. These schools must have an ALCA accredited landscape contracting curriculum, be an ALCA Student Chapter member, or participate in the ALCA Student Career Days. Project EverGreen Because Green Matters Scholarship Program
Two deserving students in a green industry related field will be awarded $2,500.00 scholarships from the new Project EverGreen Because Green Matters Scholarship Program. The scholarships are open to undergraduate college students pursuing a career in the green industry. To qualify, students must major or minor in a green industry related field such as horticulture, plant sciences, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, water management, etc. Eligibility, as determined by a committee made up of members of the Project EverGreen Board of Directors, extends to two and four year program students attending institutions that offer turf, landscape and golf management curriculums. SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR HORTICULTURE STUDENTS AND EDUCATORS
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Horticultural Foundation is pleased to announce that applications for its scholarships and grants to students and educators studying horticulture, arboriculture, nursery and greenhouse production, floriculture, forestry, landscape architecture, turfgrass management or other green industries in Virginia are currently available. The two types of scholarships provide financial assistance for college tuition and registration fees to attend the Mid-Atlantic Horticulture Short Course held annually in Virginia Beach. Applications must be received by October 1, and the scholarships will be awarded in December.
NEW Tom Eaton Scholarship ($2,000) – Tom Eaton was an active and invaluable member of the Mid-Atlantic Horticulture Short Course board. In his memory, the Tom Eaton Scholarship was established in 2008 to help defray educational expenses for an exceptional college student pursuing a degree in any horticultural field along with registration fees for the Mid-Atlantic Horticulture Short Course. Travel reimbursements are available if the recipient lives more than 50 miles from the Mid-Atlantic Horticulture Short Course site.
The College Scholarship provides $1,500 for college tuition reimbursement along with registration for the Mid-Atlantic Horticulture Short Course. Travel reimbursements are available for recipients living more than 50 miles from the Mid-Atlantic Horticulture Short Course site.
The Educators’ Travel Scholarship (for teachers) provides registration fees for the Mid-Atlantic Horticulture Short Course. Travel reimbursements are available for recipients living more than 50 miles from the Mid-Atlantic Horticulture Short Course site.

The Mid-Atlantic Horticulture Short Course is one of the nation’s most comprehensive horticulture educational programs with more than 70 professional horticulture and business speakers and a choice of more than 160 sessions related to the green Industry. The Mid-Atlantic Horticulture Short Course is produced by The Virginia Horticultural Foundation, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that provides educational programs to assist and inform the general public and professionals in effective and efficient horticultural pursuits, landscaping, environmental concerns and general gardening activities.
The Virginia Society of Landscape Designers provides a $500 annual scholarship.
The scholarship program is intended as an educational aid for a qualified student who intends to pursue a career in Virginia as a landscape designer. Preference will be given to students attending J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College, Northern Virginia Community College, Tidewater Community College, and /or Virginia Western Community College.

Virginia State Golf Association - Virginia Turf Foundation
The VSGA/VTF Scholarship Program was founded to assist undergraduate students who are studying Turfgrass Management at Virginia Tech with the goal of becoming golf course superintendents or to work in the golf turf industry. Graduate students engaged in golf turf-related research are also eligible for support. CSES Turf Scholarship Opportunities
The following scholarships are available for students who have an interest in turfgrass management. These scholarships are awarded at the beginning of the winter semester each year and are administered through the Virginia Tech Department of Crop and Soil Environmental Sciences Scholarship Committee. In total $5,750 in scholarships will be awarded by the Scholarship Committee to deserving students in turfgrass management. Scholarships may be awarded to students from other academic departments, however, these students must be interested in a career in the turf industry and be working toward a minor in the CSES Department. W.S. “Bill” Connelly Scholarship
A $750 scholarship awarded to an exemplary student who excels in agronomics, turfgrass, or ornamental studies in honor of the founder of Landscape Supply Inc. It is presented each January at the Virginia Turfgrass Council Conference and Trade Show in Richmond.

Perennial Plant Association
Perennial Plant Association Scholarship Program The Perennial Plant Association is proud to offer five scholarships to college students studying horticulture or a related subject area. Students enrolled in two-or four-year programs are eligible to apply. Each scholarship recipient will receive $1,000 and complimentary registration for all lectures and tours at the Perennial Plant Symposium in July. Recipients will also receive complimentary lodging during the symposium. Scholarship recipients must attend the symposium to receive the $1,000 scholarship. The completed application should be mailed to the PPA office by March 1. Each scholarship applicant will be notified by March 2.

AFE scholarship applications
Applications and info on American Floral Endowment's Ball and Mosmiller Intern Scholarship Programs are available for students looking to gain experience in greenhouse production, floral retail and wholesale and allied trade fields. The Vic and Margaret Ball Intern Scholarship Program funds training at floriculture production greenhouses. The Mosmiller Intern Scholarship Program helps support students who participate in internships at a retail florist, wholesaler or allied trade company. Both scholarships are awarded twice each year. Deadlines are March 1 and Oct. 1. Applications can be downloaded from the AFE Web site.

This year, the Sidney B. Meadows Scholarship Endowment Fund expects to award approximately twelve $1,500 scholarships. We need your help to spread the word about the availability of this scholarship. If you know of a deserving student, please pass this on.
The Fund awards academic scholarships to students in sixteen southeastern states – Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia – pursuing a career in horticulture.
Deadline for application is May 31. Selections will be made by July 1 and awards made by early August.
